October- Lovecraftian Horror

Greetings, all. My name is Jake, and I hope to be your editor.

For new writers, the tabs to the right of this one contain all of the information about the current anthology. If you’re only interested in submitting something, you’ll want to look at “Mission Statement and Submission Guidelines”. My email address is located at the bottom of that page.

Onto Lovecraftian Horror. Now that this project is off the ground and October has arrived, it’s time to write something terrifying. October’s anthology will feature fiction inspired by the most influential man in horror, Howard Philips Lovecraft.

We will do this through two types of stories.

1. Stories set in or involving Lovecraft’s “Cthulhu Mythos”, insane alien gods, cultists, things that should not be, and anything else that can be counted as Cosmic Horror will be allowed, including satires or other “Lovecraft Lite” stories.

2. Horror stories written with Lovecraft’s style or containing elements of his literature. Lovecraft emphasised a fear of the unknown, and any horror story that does this well is welcome.

For those unfamiliar with his work who want to see his writing and plotting styles, check out the Lovecraft Archives at http://www.hplovecraft.com/writings/fiction/. For those who are on-the-move and don’t have the time to read up on Lovecraft, consider using the quintessential HP Lovecraft Literary Podcast, found on iTunes or here: http://hppodcraft.com/.

So show me a tentacled beast lurking in Arkham, an experiment gone wrong at Miskatonic University, a mindless deity from outside time, or whatever horror you consider Lovecraftian.

I look forward to your submissions.

-Jake
